In early 2024, we organized a series of InnoLead member meetings to experiment with new Gen AI tools applicable to various stages of innovation. This page collects video replays of that series, as well as related resources.

We’re grateful to our friends Curtis Michelson, Steve Fisher, and Keith Hopper for their contributions to this series.

Meeting #1: Using Generative AI tools for Researching a Specific Opportunity Area and Understanding Trends.

Breakout groups explored two opportunity spaces: one related to financial services, and one related to pet food, as a way to get hands-on experience with tools. Three videos from this meeting are below. See Excel spreadsheet below (Meeting #1) for access to the tools we tested, and sample output related to a rail travel project.

Main room:

Breakout room #1: Financial services exploration

Lifetime value of a consumer is paramount in B2C financial services. As a large financial institution with many services, how do we provide real value for teens and young consumers early in their financial journey in order to develop a lifelong relationship? Led by Keith Hopper of Danger Fort Labs.

Breakout room #2: Pet food exploration. As a large, traditional pet food division, we see emerging players threatening our market share. How might we better understand and respond to the growing trends in pet food buying, fueled by increasing household spending on pet care, and a desire for overall healthier production and consumption? Led by Curtis Michelson of Minds Alert.

Meeting #2: Using Generative AI Tools for Ideation and Concept Development

Breakout groups explored two opportunity spaces: one related to financial services, and one related to the future of Amtrak and rail travel as a way to get hands-on experience with tools. Three videos from this meeting are below. See the PDF document below (Meeting #2) for access to the tools we tested, and notes of what we covered.

Main room:

Breakout room #1: Ideation (financial services)

Breakout room #2: Concept development and visualization (Amtrak and rail travel)

Meeting #3: Most Useful Tools for Innovators and Effective Prompting

This March 2024 meeting reviewed 11 different Gen AI tools for innovators, using the retailer Macy’s as an example. Video from this meeting is below. See the PDF document below (Meeting #3) for access to the tools we tested, as well as others mentioned by participants.
