Columbia Business School’s Rita McGrath: Is Innovation on the Agenda at Every Meeting?

How often is innovation the highest-priority issue at your company?

In many organizations, it happens once a quarter when the innovation council convenes, or once a year when the employee idea competition rolls around.

Rita McGrath says it ought to happen at every meeting.

“If you believe innovation is important, it should be in position one, two, or three on the agenda of every meeting that you have,” she says, “even if you just start the meeting by touching base quickly on something having to do with innovation.”
